Solar Battery Storage
New Net Metering Deadline: Solar customers that submit their interconnection application before April 14, 2023 can be grandfathered into NEM 2.0 for 20 years. Solar owners that are grandfathered into NEM 2.0 will be able to add battery storage later and remain on NEM 2.0
Solar panels create more energy during the day than most homeowners can use. A solar battery storage system allows you to store the excess solar energy to use at night when the solar panels aren’t producing. A solar battery storage also allows solar panels to function when the local utility grid goes down. If you’ve made the switch to solar power, make it completely independent from the grid by installing a solar battery storage system.
If you want to reduce your dependence on non-renewable resources, batteries are an ideal backup power source. A solar battery storage system can counteract your utility company’s peak demand charges by storing energy during off-peak hours, and selling your surplus energy back to the gird during on-peak hours. This means you won’t just be saving money, but you may actually be generating a return on your investment. For 2022, there is a 30% Federal Tax credit for solar battery storage systems.
