HOW IT WORKS


 When there is sufficient heat to be drawn from the collectors, the controller automatically activates the pumps. Heated solar fluid is then circulated from the collectors, through the heat exchanger, where its heat is transferred to water in the storage tank. The solar liquid is then pumped back to the collectors to once again be reheated. This circulation loop will continue as long as there is heat to be drawn from the collectors. During times when there is little or no sun, a backup heating system will be activated to provide adequate hot water.

Description and Operation

This liquid flat plate collector is designed to absorb solar radiation. The solar radiation is converted into heat on the inner all-copper absorber. The copper tubes attached to the absorber contain a liquid, either water or a water antifreeze mix, which transports the heat to storage, either a solar tank or a water heater. This process continues until the tank is hot for evening and morning use whenever enough sun is available. The Gobi collector features an attractive and permanent frame that is designed for good looks as well as weather resistance in both very hot and cold regions. Because of its special absorber coating, the Gobi operates efficiently also in the winter for year-round hot water production.

  • These systems are the most proven, versatile and durable, protecting the collectors from freezing and hard water deposits. The collectors are filled with a special non-toxic high temperature antifreeze. The transfer of heat occurs inside a heat exchanger attached to the tank. The operation is both simple and safe and the system is protected against overheating and boil out.
    Because the freeze protection does not depend on the draining of collectors, the installation is more versatile: collectors can be mounted above or below the tank, and without the collectors or lines having to slope.
