Los Angeles Dept. if Water & Power Time-of-Use Metering Program

California's net metering law provides that all utilities must allow customers with solar electric systems rated up to 1.5 MW to interconnect with the local utility grid and receive retail value for the electricity produced. The owners of Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power grid-connected solar electric systems may buy and sell electricity each month under the Time-of-Use program. Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power Time-of-Use program is designed to encourage customers to reduce electricity use by charging higher rates during peak hours.

For example, LADW&P Time Of Use rate allows you to run your electric meter backwards during peak hours at a higher electrical rate per kWh when your solar electric system would be generating its maximum amount of power and purchase electricity during the evenings at lower cost per kWh. This is a great advantage for solar electric system owners. Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power would change your meter so that it can measure the amounts of electricity you use within different time periods each day of the week. With your new meter, you can check your usage during each of the Time-of-Use rate periods and monitor your electric usage patterns. This Time of Use billing method effectively improves the economics of your solar power electric system by a factor of 15% to 40% depending on your electrical usage. solar panels, la solar energy, LA photovoltaic, Los Angeles photovoltaic, LA solar electricity, LA Solar roof, LA solar Home, LA residential PV, LA solar installations.

LADWP Solar Green Power Program System Quotation

Solar-Tec Systems Green Power Program 4,080 Watt Solar Electric System

The 4,080 Watt System is estimated to generate 18.71 kWh per day based on 5.5 hours of sun light per day. When the sun shines, you can generate more power than your home is consuming and your electric meter will spin backwards generating a credit. At night you'll draw on utility company power, essentially using the electrical grid as a giant storage battery. The 24 Suntech Power, Inc. STP170S-24/Ab-1 170 Watt Panels requires 342 sq. ft. of south facing roof area for a flush mount array. The Sunny Boy SB4000US (240 Volt) Utility Inter-Tie Inverter has a digital performance meter that records the daily performance and cumulative kWh production total. Solar-Tec Systems would reserve the 2008 Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power Green Power Program solar incentive for the system.

* Solar Panel Federal Tax Credit The 2005 Federal Energy Bill creates a new tax credit of up to $2000 for residential grid-tie solar electric and solar hot water system installations for two years; applied to all residential solar electric installations placed in service after December 31, 2005 and before January 1, 2008.

A solar electric system consists of five major parts:

 1. The power source
It starts with the sun. We harness the energy of the sun and put it to work for you.

 2. Power production
Both sunny and cloudy days will produce power in a solar electric system. When sunlight falls on the
solar panels, it creates electricity. There are no moving parts, so there’s no noise. Solar panels are made using high tech processes similar to those used to manufacture computer chips.

 3. Home installation
The
solar panels are typically attached to your home’s roof to maximize the amount of sunlight they receive and therefore power they can produce. The universal roof attachment system is specifically pre-engineered and tested for strength and can fit nearly any roof type.

4. Electricity you can use
The electrical current produced by the
solar panels is DC (Direct Current). The electrical appliances and lights in your home operate on AC (Alternating Current) electricity, so your system includes an “inverter” (SMA Sunny Boy  Utility Inverter with digital performance meter) to convert the DC electricity to AC. Whether it is from your local utility or from your Shell Solar system, the electricity you use is identical. The AC electricity produced can be used to run household appliances (like an air conditioner) or be fed back into the utility system.

 5. Connecting it up
The final step to producing your own solar electricity is connecting your solar system to your home.
Solar-Tec Systems  performs the connection and completes the installation. Now you’re capturing the energy of the sun to make your own electricity.

Solar Electric Benefits
  • Reduced energy consumption - Your energy consumption is likely to be the highest during the summer months and that is exactly when your solar system generates the most power. Thus, the solar system reduces your peak consumption.
  • Surplus generation - LADWP offers "net-metering" to residential customers: your meter spins backward when your PV system produces more electricity than you are using; the meter spins forward when you consume more electricity than the system produces. You are billed only for your net electricity consumption, or the difference between the two.
  • Environmentally-safe - Solar systems are environmentally-friendly source of energy. By installing a solar system you can help preserve the environment in Los Angeles.
  • Solar  25-year Warranty - solar panels have a 25-year warranty, and a 40+ year life expectancy.
